Native Americans

I photographed two major stories on Native American life for National Geographic Magazine. The first focused on the Cherokee people, whose ancestral lands in North Carolina were taken after gold was discovered there. The Indian Removal Act forced them west along what became known as the Trail of Tears.

The second story explored a powerful renaissance taking place among Native nations across the United States; a renewal of language, land, ceremony, and spirit. These stories celebrate resilience and the strength of new generations who continue to rise, preserving their heritage while shaping their own future.
